Catalog description
This course is a general introduction to Native American and Indigenous issues, from pre-European contact to contemporary topics such as language revitalization, land and environmental rights, food and health, economic development, portrayal in media and popular culture, and the exercise of Indigenous sovereignty. Students will be exposed to interdisciplinary approach to studying and working with Indigenous peoples - surveying anthropological, historical, sociological, literary, and public health approaches.
