Springing from a long tradition of writing that emphasizes verisimilitude, creative nonfiction employs the literary conventions of fiction and poetry to explore the truth in ways beyond the mere transmission of facts and information. Students will read examples of creative nonfiction to get a sense of the genre's possibilities while also writing creative nonfiction projects of their own.
