This course is a historical and cultural survey of the visual and performative arts of India, China, and Japan from prehistory to the present. This course emphasizes the understanding of cultural and historical contexts through representative illustrations, paintings, sculptures, architecture and performative arts. Course material will stress methods of stylistic and iconographic analysis, as well as research methods in the field of history.
