Catalog description
The first half of a two-semester foundation course in biological science for science majors. The course includes a detailed examination of the cellular and molecular basis of life as well as introductions to modern molecular genetics, evolutionary theory, and the history of life on earth. The laboratory component of the course involves a practical, hands-on examination of the above topics with special emphasis on the scientific method as applied to biology and the writing of detailed laboratory reports.
