Voice and Resonance Disorders

Catalog description

This course comprehensively examines voice and resonance disorders across the lifespan, including functional, organic, and neurogenic etiologies. Grounded in theoretical frameworks and evidence-based practice, students will explore principles and methods of assessment, differential diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Emphasis is placed on integrating scientific knowledge with clinical decision-making, while considering the physiological, acoustic, and perceptual aspects of voice production and resonance. Students will use current research and clinical guidelines to support effective, ethical intervention. Special attention is given to cultural sensitivity and ethical responsibility when serving individuals from varied backgrounds and communities.
