Catalog description

Students will learn evaluation methods used in health professions education curriculum. Content includes developing skills to create valid and reliable assessments of student learning using norm referenced and criterion referenced evaluation methods. A variety of classroom assessments will be explored as well as basic psychometric statistics; grading; communicating assessment information; testing ethics; and the use of assessments and evaluations in educational policy decisions. Students will explore assessments used for the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains and current issues and research related to alternatives to standardized evaluation methods, and outcome measurement in education. Prerequisite(s): IPE 7001 and EDF 7050
