Catalog description

Although many of us think of ourselves as individuals first, we came into this world as members of a dyad: a group of two. Groups are fundamental to both our beginnings and to our development as members the human family. Indeed, our “reference groups” help tell us who we are because they tell us where and to whom we belong. In this class we will develop our understanding of the how and why of group functioning as we explore the role that “formed groups” can play in the socio-emotional development of individuals. We will, perhaps most importantly, learn the skills and competencies needed for the planning and running of groups that serve such ends.
