Catalog description

This course continues the systems theory and individual person-in-environment framework introduced in HBSE I by providing a foundation for family theory and group work. It explores the structure of organizations, groups, and communities as they provide social contexts for human development beyond the family group. This course gives attention to the demographic profile of communities and issues surrounding access to services, and highlights how culture, environment, policy, and structures impacts a person’s development and functioning, often resulting in inequity and oppression.
