Media and Society

Catalog description

This course is focused on the mass media, including films, television programming (on any platform), news, recorded music, videogames, and social media. A variety of sociological theories is employed to understand the relationship between media content, production, and use. The class examines the relationship between society and the mass media, especially in regard to issues of power. Offered during alternate years.
