Best Practices in Learning and Teaching Science

Catalog description

This course combines theory and practice of learning and teaching science. Students learn selected principles of science compatible with the Curriculum Framework of Science by constructing their own understanding of them. Using differentiated instruction methodology for teaching science, students apply their own understanding about these principles to teaching elementary children and pre-school children with a variety of learning styles and abilities. Along with field experiences, students visit different institution types to observe science taught in different settings and to different age groups. Students engage in hands-on labs and investigations to increase their own understanding of science topics as well as prepare to facilitate hands-on science learning experiences for their future students.
