Catalog description
This course explores a range of religious identities, expressions, and communities through the lens of food, food practices, and foodways. Food is a tangible way that religious norms are expressed and religious ideas shape how humans eat or do not eat. Students study religious dietary systems, norms around religious foods, and ideas about food, religion, and power. Topics include, but are not limited to: food and ritual, food and values, religious food and communities.
