Catalog description

This course serves as a foundation course for those interested in a career fostering learning and development of college students. Focusing on ages 17 to 25, this course deals with psychological and social development and examines principle dimensions and conditions influencing development in this critical period. Relevant research findings are related to students’ current circumstances and stage of development. There will be an emphasis on exploring the historical, cultural, philosophical, and theoretical foundations of student development theory. Also, this course will integrate knowledge of developmental theories from constructivist, critical, and postmodern paradigms.
