Catalog description

Practical experience is a central aspect of the integrative approach taken through the adventure education master’s degree program. Students work with the program director and advisors to design and select experiences to increase knowledge and skills in their pursuit of integrating knowledge and experience in applying adventure education instructional methods, program design and assessment/evaluation. Opportunities for fieldwork are offered in various settings (e.g. workshops provided by high-quality agencies, youth serving agencies, outdoor centers and educational facilities) that provide students with valuable practical experiences and meaningful connections with professionals in the field. PHED 699 experiences will be arranged on an individual basis with the onus on the student to work with the program director and/or faculty for selecting and securing learning experiences.
