Interscholastic Athletic Administration

Catalog description

This course is designed to provide an overview of interscholastic athletic administration. Guiding foundations and philosophies, and strategies for organization management are incorporated. Issues specific to interscholastic athletics are examined, including contest management, personnel management, public relations, eligibility, resources, critical incident planning, and special events. State and national professional organizations for interscholastic athletic administration are investigated. Engagement includes creation of a handbook and strategic plan, as well as initiatives that promote educating the whole person through athletics. The course is aligned with National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Leadership Training Courses 501, 502, and 503. Upon successful completion of the course, graduate students may submit required paperwork to become Registered Athletic Administrators through the NIAAA.
