Quality Improvement in Healthcare

Catalog description

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of healthcare quality improvement including methods and tools to improve patient safety, healthcare outcomes and reduce risk. The focus will be on applying knowledge and leadership to the multiple challenges faced by healthcare organizations. Special emphasis is placed on the role of teams in quality improvement and risk reduction, including understanding the factors needed for effective team performance. Assessing risk in complex healthcare environments, assessing the value of different management approaches to monitor, anticipate, reduce and eliminate dangerous risks will be discussed.
