Catalog description

This course is a survey of the historical development of mathematics. Problem solving using historical notations and methods is emphasized . Topics include ancient Chinese, Egyptian and Greek mathematics, ancient and medieval Indian mathematics, ancient and modern Latin American mathematics, and European mathematics of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
