Catalog description

This course explores how to use math to address topics of social inequality, inequity, and injustice. The bulk of the course consists of modules organized around an issue of social injustice, such as: fairness in electoral districting; voting methods beyond plurality; statistical inference and health inequality; visualizing and summarizing data related to policing. Content areas are introduced, then relevant math is explored, and the module culminates in a project challenging students to make actionable plans to reduce inequality, inequity, and injustice.
