Catalog description

This graduate seminar in health promotion focuses on social justice, anti-racism, and health, and how we as health educators and health professionals can promote health equity in the world around us via our professional and educational careers. Students learn core concepts around health equity, frameworks of racism, and social justice, and link course content to current events. The culminating course project is applied in nature, modeling a “real world” work environment in terms of group dynamics and team negotiation. The focus of this course is global, with applied attention to supporting anti-racism efforts at Springfield College. In keeping with the Humanics mission of the College, the goal of our final project is to promote racial inclusivity.
