Catalog description

This course is designed for students who aspire to leadership roles especially those of becoming effective education change leaders in cross-sector contexts. Students discuss the core theory and concepts of leadership and the principles of organizational change. They use a self-assessment instrument to understand their own strengths and areas for improvement as a leader and use the results of that assessment to develop a plan for their own leadership development. Professional, ethical and social advocacy issues also are addressed throughout this course. Students will analyze and critique literature from many perspectives: general leadership, organizational change, ethical leadership and organizational politics. Class discussions focus on applying concepts from the readings to a variety of education settings today.
