Catalog description

This course provides an overview of health promotion initiatives and interventions in rural and urban communities, with a strong emphasis on understanding and explaining inequalities and inequities in the United States. Students discuss contexts of rural and urban environments that shape health including: the physical environment, housing, education, discrimination and racism, socioeconomic status, policing, and safety. Explores the complexity and diversity of the determinants of health among domestic rural and urban populations.
