Catalog description

To ensure that the early childhood educator understands and appreciates the developmental needs of young children in the preparation of a safe, culturally competent environment, lesson plans based on best practices, and holistic learning experiences in the areas of health, safety, and nutrition. Major emphasis is given to positive, evidence-based health, safety, and nutrition practices that contribute to the wellness of children, from birth to age eight. Special emphasis is given to learning environments that promote cultural competence and partnerships with families. The importance of recognizing symptoms and reporting procedures for child abuse is emphasized.
