Catalog description

Emergency Medical Response and Trauma is designed to prepare students to manage and care for medical emergencies and traumatic injuries. The course will utilize a skills-based approach to instruction to develop competency in a variety of medical and trauma informed scenarios. The medical emergencies component of the course will focus on emergency assessment & triage, respiratory compromise, cardiac compromise, diabetic emergency, anaphylaxis, environmental illness, and drug overdose to include medication intervention. The trauma informed portion of the course will prepare students to handle internal/external hemorrhaging, spinal motion restriction, and management of acute dislocations, subluxations, and fractures.
