Art Therapy Capstone Experience

Catalog description
This course is required of all art therapy majors, allowing them to apply cumulative knowledge gained in the major over their tenure at Springfield College. Students participate in a Capstone Practicum Experience*to gain pre-professional experiences and formulate their roles as helpers in preparation for professional training at the graduate level. Students in this course develop an understanding of the current literature surrounding ethical principles used in art therapy and will apply them to practicum experiences. Majors taking this course are evaluated on their knowledge of art therapy methodology, the creative applications of materials, professionalism, the multicultural impact, and the ethical impact of art therapy as examples of readiness for professional graduate training. *Capstone Practicum Experiences are 120 hours of offsite placement(s) per three credits.
