Catalog description

This course is designed for students who are interested in understanding how professionals utilize art therapy. This course will introduce art as a healing modality as experienced at pre-practicum sites. Supervision is provided by both the site supervisor and by the instructor of the class. The class is designed to help students become aware of their roles as pre-professionals. The class format includes but is not limited to specific activities and issues encountered at placements, group discussion, role play, and will include responsive art-making experiences. Ideas related to the nature of the creative process, skill acquisition, self-expression, and other educational/clinical issues will be shared and explored.
