Catalog description
Astudy of the short story, novel and/or novella, with the primary objective of learning to read with greater understanding and pleasure, greater taste and discrimination, with exposure to avariety of literary forms and periods. Through study of the short story and novel form, students will be introduced to various methods of literary criticism, learning the vocabulary of literary criticism. The novels that are studied will be grouped thematically, and demonstrative of the range and techniques of the novel form.
