Basic Accounting Procedures

Catalog description
This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of accounting; emphasizing the accounting cycle and financial statements. Financial accounting topics relating to merchandisers, inventory valuation, accounts receivable, internal control, bank reconciliation, petty cash, and current liabilities, including payroll, will also be discussed. Students will explore the benefits and use of budgets, and some limited budget preparation will be included. Excel spreadsheet use and application will be incorporated into the instruction.
