Catalog description

This course provides an overview of fundamental commercial building automation controls and processes. Emphasis is placed on controls for commercial environmental systems and how building systems can be monitored, controlled, and integrated with Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems. Topics include: safety, history, development of digital controls for HVAC, human comfort, psychrometrics, HVAC systems and equipment, control principles, operational sequence, control devices, and control systems. The course includes a survey building automation, integration of energy management systems with building automation systems, industry associations, Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), and ASHRAE industry standards.
