Catalog description

How would we know when a society is sustainable? This course provides students with answers to this question. Students learn how to use holistic thinking, especially systems thinking, to diagnose the challenges posed by a situation drawn from life that is inconsistent with a sustainable society and present the results of their work in a series of group presentations throughout the semester. Along the way, students also explore how their diagnosis helps to point the way toward a holistic prescription that would transform the unsustainable situation into a sustainable one.
