Catalog description

This course explores the history, structure, and function of the United Nations as the leading platform for global governance. Students examine the strengths and weaknesses of the UN as a forum for solving transnational problems and the roles played by UN member-states and UN agencies in that regard. The instructor may organize a one-day round trip to New York City for students to participate in a group tour of UN Headquarters and to observe a public session of a UN Security Council meeting. There will be additional fees for students who choose to participate in this trip.
