In this course, students will examine crimes committed by corporations and individuals classified as white-collar offenders. They will analyze how these crimes are defined, who commits them, who is at risk for victimization, and the moral, ethical, legal, and social contexts that contribute to their occurrence. Students will evaluate investigative methods and legal processes, including legal privilege, grand jury proceedings, pre-trial practices, evidentiary issues, litigation strategies, and potential sanctions. They will apply this knowledge to assess cases and formulate conclusions that inform prevention strategies and policy responses.
