Legal and Justice Research Methods

Catalog description
In this course, students will explore specialized methods and sources of legal and justice research. In the first half of the course, students will examine primary and secondary sources of the law, practice legal citation, analyze and interpret legal documents, validate research findings, and produce legal research, to better understand how law functions within broader systems. In the second half of the course, students will explore justice-related academic literature, including peer-reviewed journal articles and government reports, gaining the skills to critically analyze relevant academic materials and interpret research in justice studies.
