Southern New Hampshire University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
In this course, students will be introduced to the tools necessary to perform static analysis and will build a foundation in mechanics. Students will solve for forces on particles, rigid bodies, and systems in equilibrium. Students will learn graphical and analytical approaches as well as software tools available for static analysis. Students will cover topics such as free-body diagrams, vector approaches, friction, beams, shear and bending diagrams, trusses, frames, and machines. Students will develop skills in problem-solving, documenting solutions, and correlating equations of equilibrium with free-body diagrams.
