Catalog description

The course enhances the ability of students to integrate rate mechanisms (i.e., heat transfer and fluid dynamics) into thermodynamic system modeling and analyses, and provides thermal system design opportunities through open-ended problems. Explicit considerations include engineering economics, optimization, environmental impact, manufacturability, and sustainability via teamwork experience and communication skills. Students will also obtain some numerical and hands-on experience on thermo-fluid systems by computation (CFD) and learn how to approach and solve problems typically encountered in experimental engineering work.
