Catalog description

This course first introduces the fundamentals of aircraft structures, focusing on materials, structural components, airframe maneuvering loads, and flight envelopes in the context of airworthiness standards. Students will then develop the ability to analyze thin-walled structures under torsion, bending, and shear using principles of solid mechanics, including linear elasticity and shear flow theory. A hands-on design project reinforces these concepts and knowledge by guiding students through the design, analysis, and evaluation of real-world aircraft structures.
