In this course, students will explore the biological, clinical, and public health dimensions of infectious diseases affecting humans. Students will examine how pathogens interact with hosts to cause disease and the immune system response. Topics include disease transmission, antimicrobial resistance, vaccination, and global health strategies. Students will analyze trends in emerging and re-emerging disease outbreaks using epidemiological data and case studies. Students will also assess the potential outbreak of pathogens by considering environmental, zoological, and medical factors. Emphasizing critical thinking and evidence-based approaches, this course will prepare students to understand and evaluate the impact of infectious diseases on populations and healthcare systems.
