Catalog description
Instrumentation & Control I presents the fundamental scientific principles of process control including temperature measurement, pressure measurement, level processes measurement, flow measurement, analyzers, position measurement, PID Controller and process control, pH control and measurement, process dynamics, proportional plus integral/derivative control mode. Topics include transducers, thermometers, and gauges are introduced along with calibration. The student must demonstrate the ability to properly connect and troubleshoot a basic instrumentation system upon completion of this course. This course will incorporate a variety of teaching and learning methods - lectures, readings, lab exercises, and lab work. (Offered in spring only)
