Catalog description

The course provides the student with the basic technical skills in the proper and safe use of various forms of technology in the clinical setting. Students will gain a comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and skill in the use of electronic health care record to promote safe, quality patient-centered care. The focus of this course is the understanding of health information systems and the nurse's role in managing data, information, knowledge, and technology; to gain an understanding of ethical and legal use of health information systems; and to utilize appropriate databases for evidence-based research enhancing the quality of patient care and practice decisions.
