Catalog description

Course provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate practical skills designed to facilitate operative procedures in the scrub role. Practical skills include donning operating room attire and PPE, identifying surgical equipment and instrumentation, patient positioning, surgical hand hygiene, gowning and gloving, assembling and preparing surgical supplies, establishing and maintaining the sterile field, electrosurgical unit safety, proper handling of medication and surgical specimen, intraoperative case management, operative counts, sterile processing, and dressing application.
