Catalog description

This course investigates the nexus between communities and sustainability. Topics include sustainability in the context of urban systems and how these systems should be studied in light of sustainability concerns. This course will consider the impact urban systems have on the environmental systems that support them. Students will study ways we account for costs, benefits, and the environment utilizing the International City Council Management system, Triple Bottom Line tool. Students will examine how decisions are made at the local level and will understand the regulatory framework for sustainability in California and the United States.
