Catalog description

History tends to repeat as time moves forward, and, learning from the past is an important tool for landscape design for the current challenging environment. This class is a study of design implementations for various situations in the world, from ancient time to the 20th Century, including Italian, French, English, Dutch, Persian, Chinese, Japanese as well as American gardens, parks and other open spaces. This course will also review the cultural, social and environmental aspects, besides aesthetics, that have influenced landscape design solutions as well as the positive environmental impacts.
