Catalog description

This honors course is designed to develop the fundamentals of communicating in French, including basic conversation, listening comprehension and reading. The emphasis is on speaking and comprehending native spoken French. The course introduces basic writing skills and also presents general aspects of French and Francophone life and culture. This honors course will be enriched through limited class size, more extensive development of speaking, listening and comprehension skills, more extensive exposure to French and Francophone culture and additional assignments beyond the regular FR 1. Students will be assigned expanded reading and a research project that requires critical thinking. FR 1 is equivalent to two years of high school French. Credit may be earned in either FR 1 or 1H, but not both.
