Transition to Professional Nursing

Catalog description
This course is designed to assist the student to transition from licensed practical nurse (LPN) to registered nurse (RN) through education. Students will determine the differences between the LPN and the RN roles in healthcare, to assist with successful transition to their new role. The differences explored will include leadership and delegation. This course also explores the professional role and socialization development, legal and ethical issues, and professional behaviors. Transition to Professional Nursing competencies while providing patient-centered care will validate the students’ proficiency in psychomotor skills, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety, informatics, professionalism, leadership, clinical reasoning, and critical thinking in the performance of RN procedures and duties.
