Catalog description

The course introduces fundamental concepts of nursing practice, such as patient needs, safety, basic physical assessment, communication, teaching/learning, critical thinking, ethical-legal, and nursing process. The role of the nurse as a member of the health care team is emphasized. Additionally, psychomotor skills needed to assist individuals in meeting basic human needs, maintaining microbial, physical and psychological safety are introduced along with skills needed in therapeutic interventions. Correlation of course content and patient care will be provided in clinical settings. Pre-requisite(s): MATH 1105 , ENGL 1010 , BIOL 2022 / BIOL 2023 , PSYC 1010 Concurrency: None Co-requisite(s): None
