History 1041 is an introductory survey course designed to follow the growth of modern states system and global rivalries from the early 18th century to the present day. Emphasis will be placed on the development of modern science and secular thought, the age of revolutions, the emergence of industrial and technological advancement and the rise of social conscience and protest. This course will also cover major global conflicts and the contemporary crises that are their legacy. HIST 1041 is summarized as a survey of world history from 1500 to the present. Equivalent to CHIS 1123, World Civilization II, Louisiana Board of Regents Common Course Matrix. Pre-requisite(s): ACT score of 15 or above /equivalent Accuplacer SAT or C or better in ENGL 1010 Concurrency: None Co-requisite(s): None.
