History 1040 is an introductory survey course designed to introduce students to the major ideas and institutions that have shaped the world from the earliest time to the 18th century–the ancient and classical world and its heritage, the rise of world civilizations, religions and transitions to early modern life and thought. This is an important foundation course for all college work and for increased understanding of world issues and events. HIST 1040 is summarized as a survey of western civilization from ancient times to the Reformation era. Equivalent to CHIS 1113, World Civilization I, [Louisiana Board of Regents Common Course Matrix. Pre-requisite(s): ACT score of 15 or above /equivalent Accuplacer SAT or C or better in ENGL 1010 Concurrency: None Co-requisite(s): None.
