Catalog description
The study of engineering materials such as metals, alloys, polymers, ceramics, and composites. Atomic structure and arrangement; control of the microstructure and mechanical properties, solidification, cooling curves and phase diagrams, mechanical testing, and strengthening mechanisms. Laboratory includes problem solving sessions and experiments on materials related to strengths, toughness, solidification, and metallography. Prerequisites: A minimum grade of "C" in CHEM 1212K and ENGR 3233.
