Catalog description

In this course students will explore two related fields within linguistics: phonetics and phonology. Phonetics involves the description of the articulatory aspects of sound production and the physically measurable properties of speech sounds. The course covers a wide range of sounds used by the languages of the world. Phonology involves examining the way sounds are grouped together into systems in particular languages.
