Catalog description
This class will explore the development and transformation of the institution of racialized chattel slavery in North America and the United States as well as the emergence of the antislavery movement and the formulation of anti- and proslavery arguments. Students will assess primary sources and scholarly debates about slavery and consider representations of slavery in contemporary culture. Note Dual-listed with HIST 554.
