Catalog description
This course discusses the basic characteristics of derivative instruments, such as forwards, futures, options, and swaps, and their applications to corporate strategy and risk management as well as to portfolio management. Topics include basic features of futures and options, option strategies, valuation and hedging techniques, financial risk management, and derivatives market mechanisms. Prerequisites and Corequisites Course prerequisites: MATH 121 - Survey of Calculus (C) [SGR #5, HSDC] Or MATH 123 - Calculus I (C) [SGR #5, HSDC] and ACCT 210 - Principles of Accounting I (C) and ACCT 211 - Principles of Accounting II (C) and BADM 310 - Business Finance (C) and FIN 411 - Investments (C)
