Catalog description

Course includes specialized study in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, armamentarium, and technique associated with the administration of oral local anesthetic agents. Prevention, recognition, and management of the anesthetic-associated medical emergencies are discussed. In addition, administration and monitoring of nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation during dental hygiene and dental procedures are studied. Content includes such areas as physiology, pharmacology, patient assessment and considerations, appropriate administration technique and recovery. Note Registration restriction: Must be enrolled in the Dental Hygiene B.S. program at USD.
